ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 25, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team proved no match for the nation's 12th-ranked squad, stumbling 13-3 and 11-1 to Lewis University on Thursday at Brennan Field in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader.

Game one was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Flyers belted six hits to score five runs. Lewis' advantage swelled to 6-0 with an additional run in the sixth before the Rangers responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the sixth. Eric DuCharme netted a one-out single and scored on the next at-bat as Derek Tuttle safely reached first thanks to an error by the rightfielder.

Lewis added a pair of runs in the top of the seventh. UW-Parkside equaled the feat in the bottom of the frame with DuCharme belting a two-RBI single, scoring Andrew Hosford and John Perszyk, who both reached base with singles.

The Flyers tacked on five more runs in the eighth with three coming on a Kyle Kapka home run to conclude the scoring.

Tuttle and DuCharme led the Rangers at the plate both finishing two-for-four.

Cole Kroncke suffered the loss, allowing seven earned in 6 1/3 innings of action while striking out four. LU's Tom Helwich earned the win, allowing just three hits and no runs in five innings of work.

A pair of damaging innings unhinged the Rangers in game two, falling 11-1.

An error extended the opening inning, allowing the Flyers to plate two runs for the early advantage. UW-P countered with a run in the bottom of the first as Eric Abel went yard with a solo home run.

Lewis exploded for four runs in the third inning before generating five more runs in he fifth inning.

Jacob Chandler was tagged with the loss, allowing five earned runs and striking out two in four innings of action. The Flyers' Matt Frahm claimed the win, striking out three in five innings of action while collaborating with Cory Bonner and Phil Warner to allow just two hits in the seven inning affair.

The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, opening up a weekend series against host University of Indianapolis.
