OWENSBORO, Ky. (Apr. 21, 2013)-- Josh Hudnut went the distance for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team in game two of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan College on Sunday, guiding the Rangers to a 2-1 victory to secure a split, rebounding from a 5-2 defeat earlier in the day at Panther Field.

In the opener, the host Panthers staked a 5-0 lead after six innings of play, pushing across single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before piling on three more in the sixth.

UW-Parkside got on the board in the seventh. Andrew Hosford safely reached base courtesy of a Panther error before pinch hitter Andrew Mott made the hosts pay for their mistake, belting a two-run home run with two outs. The Rangers rally was cut short as a strike out the next at-bat ended the contest, giving KWC the 5-2 decision.

Josh Geiger suffered the loss, pitching all seven innings and striking out two. His counterpart, Chaz Simpson earned the complete game victory, striking out five while allowing just five hits.

In the nightcap, the Rangers struck first, plating a run in the bottom of the first. Eric Abel reached first after getting hit by a pitch, later scoring off an Eric DuCharme double. KWC tied the contest with a run in the top of the second but the Rangers pulled ahead for good in the third inning with John Perszyk drawing a bases loaded walk to score Zach Cunningham, who led off the frame with a base hit.

DuCharme tallied three of UW-P's four hits in game two, finishing the game three-for-four at the plate with an RBI.

Hudnut paved the way for the Rangers on the mound, scattering eight hits and allowing just one run to pick up the complete game victory. The righthander struck out four while issuing no walks, besting KWC's Andrew Moralez who yielding two runs in 4 1/3 innings of action.

The Rangers return to the diamond on Wednesday, squaring off against Lewis University in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
