EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Apr. 13, 2013)-- Scoring was in short supply on Saturday as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team fell 6-0 and 12-1 to host University of Southern Indiana in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division showdown at the USI Baseball Field.
The host Screaming Eagles (19-12, 9-11 GLVC) tallied four runs in the first two innings of the opener, cruising to the 6-0 win. USI tallied one run in the first before pushing across three in the second, including a pair of unearned scores while adding two more scores in the seventh.
Ben Wright handled all nine innings for the Eagles on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out six and issuing no walks.
Casey Doucette suffered the defeat, allowing three earned runs in seven innings of action.
A scoring surge midway through the contest netted 12 runs for homestanding USI in game two to secure the sweep. The Screaming Eagles pushed across four runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to account for all their scoring. The Rangers (1-17, 1-15 GLVC) plated their lone score in the fifth with a

Eric Abel who opened the inning with a base hit.
Abel led the UWP offense, collecting two of the squad's five hits, finishing two-for-three at the plate while scoring a run.
Alex Rejniak suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings while Brandon Shaw tallied the win, striking out five in five innings of action.
The Rangers and Eagles conclude the weekend series on Sunday.
