ALLENDALE, Mich. (Feb. 9, 2013)-- The 4x400-meter relay team placed fourth overall as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's track & field squad turned in several season best efforts over the weekend at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet held on the 300-meter indoor track surface housed in the Kelly Family Sports Center.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Michael Karwowski,
Justin Armstrong,
Dylan Rivard and
Brendan Bailey clocked their fastest time of the season on Saturday, circling the track in three minutes, 21.01 seconds to place fourth and finish just short of the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard.
Individually,
Will Cranford placed sixth in Friday's invitational 60-meter hurdles, finishing in a season-best time of 8.32.
Karwowski won his heat and placed seventh overall in the 400-meter dash, clocking a season best time of 49.52 while Armstrong improved his time. placing 14th in 50.28.
In the mile,
Jesus Escareno and
Jimmy Mikkelson tied for 13th, both crossing the finish in 4:23.23 while
Sean Wagner trailed in 26th (4:28.70). In the 3,000-meter run,
Ron Hedman placed 21st with a time of 8:46.76.
The two-day unscored meet featured 85 collegiate teams and over 1,700 athletes.
The Rangers are idle next weekend before returning to action on Feb. 23 for day one of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships held in Indianapolis.
