SOMERS, Wis. (Feb. 6, 2013)-- The short-handed University of Wisconsin-Parkside wrestling squad stormed out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back against rival University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as the 14th-ranked Rangers topped the Warhawks 22-15 to reclaim the Sake Bottle Trophy on Wednesday night inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The victory was redemption for the Rangers (6-4) who suffered a heartbreaking 17-16 setback to the Warhawks (12-3) in 2012 to lose possession of the Sake Bottle for just the second time in the last 20 meetings. UW-Parkside has now won 20 of the 25 meetings in the series since the trophy was first instituted in 1975, including seven of the last eight.

Josh Anthony got things started for the home side, earning an 11-4 victory at the 174-pound weight class. Matt Gille grinded out a 12-1 major decision victory at 184 pounds over Justin Birschbach while Davien Willis emerged with a 4-2 decision at 285 pounds. The Warhawks, ranked fourth nationally in Division III, received a forfeit victory at 125 pounds while claiming the 133-pound weight class with a slim 8-6 decision victory. UW-Parkside rebounded with Arik Yde prevailing at 141 with a 4-1 decision before 149-pounder Dan Argueta netted the lone fall of the night, pinning the Warhawks' Garrett Whitehead in three minutes and 59 seconds. UWW won the final two weight classes of the night at 157 and 165 but the dual victory was already secured for the Rangers.

UW-Parkside returns to the mat on Saturday, heading up to Eau Claire, Wis. for the Blugold Open beginning at 9 a.m.
