NWCA Duals Bracket

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Jan. 13, 2013)-- Davion Willis and James Malechek finished the weekend undefeated as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside wrestling squad finished fourth at the National Wrestling Coaches Association/Cliff Keen National Duals on Sunday at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.

The 17th-ranked Rangers (3-2) opened the day by falling 27-9 to No. 4 Saint Cloud State University in the semifinals before suffering a 26-12 setback to No. 3 University of Central Oklahoma in the third place match.

Against the Huskies (10-0), Willis and Malechek accounted for all nine of the Rangers' points. Willis tallied three points with a 4-3 victory over Mic Berg at the 197-pound weight class while Malechek secured six points with a forfeit win at 285 pounds. Saint Cloud State went on to win the team title, downing No. 7 Notre Dame College (Ohio), 17-15 in the championship match.

In the third place match against the Bronchos (4-1), Malechek highlighted the dual, pinning UCO's Cody Dauphin 5:00 into the bout at 285 while Willis blanked Znick Ferrell, 3-0, at 197. Ryan McQuade secured the third Ranger win, downing Ryan Brooks 4-3.

UW-Parkside opened up the NWCA Duals on Saturday with a pair of wins over top-ten squads, knocking off No. 1 and defending national champion University of Nebraska-Kearney, 18-13 in the opening round before stifling No. 8 University of Findlay 26-13 to earn a berth in the semifinals.

The Rangers return to the mat on Saturday, hosting the annual Ranger Duals inside the Sport & Activity Center with matches getting underway at 10 a.m.
