Official MISL Release
SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 18, 2012)-- The Major Indoor Soccer League announced University of Wisconsin-Parkside alumnus Mark Litton to the coaching staff for the 2012 MISL Combine beginning on Sept. 27 in Kansas City at the Independence Events Center and KC Soccer Dome.
Litton, a 2010 UW-Parkside Hall of Fame Inductee, has served as goalkeeper coach for the MISL's Milwaukee Wave since 2004 and is considered one of the premier goalie coaches in the indoor game, helping the Wave capture championships in 2005, 2011 and 2012 while also serving on the staff for the U.S. National Futsal team during the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil and during the 2012 Futsal World Cup qualifying process. Litton spent eight years as the Rangers' goalkeeper coach and currently serves as a volunteer for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
As a Ranger, Litton tended the net from 1985-1988, establishing several records during his tenure. Litton was a First Team All-American in 1988, posting a national record 14 shutouts and compiling a goals against average of 0.683. He completed his UWP career with 21 shutouts and a 1.23 GAA while earning a pair of NAIA All-District 14 awards. Litton graduated with a degree in communications and played four seasons professionally with the Milwaukee Wave.
“Having Mark as part of our staff will offer great insight for the goalkeepers at the event,” USL National Technical Director Peter Mellor said. “As with the USL PRO Combine, where we have added specific training aspects for goalkeepers in the past two years, we expect those players transitioning from the outdoor to the indoor game will find their knowledge and coaching invaluable.”
Up to 96 players will be evaluated and trained by current MISL coaches during the four-day event as the teams seek to add talent to their squads before the opening night of the 2012-13 MISL season on Friday, November 2nd.
