LIBERTY, Mo. (Sept. 16, 2012)-- Unglued by a pair of second half goals, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to William Jewell College on Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Greene Stadium.

The two regionally ranked squads battled to a scoreless opening half with the host and No. 6 ranked Cardinals (4-1, 3-1 GLVC) holding a slim 5-4 edge in shots over the fifth-ranked Rangers (3-2-1, 2-2 GLVC).

Jewell broke open the game in the 52nd minute with Ashley Licata scoring from the top of the box off a feed from Sarah Franklin. The Cardinals doubled their buffer with just over five minutes remaining as Franklin tallied a score off a Licata assist at the 84:55 mark to conclude the scoring.

Brynn Darga and Crystal Chalery accounted for both of UWP's shots on goal as the Cardinals held a 9-2 edge in shots on frame.

Michelle Girard racked up seven saves in 90 minutes of action in goal while Jewell's Kelli Sontag stopped a pair of shots to pick up the shutout.

The UWP eleven return to the pitch on Friday, traveling to Evansville, Ind. for a 7:30 p.m. showdown against the University of Southern Indiana.
