LIBERTY, Mo. (Sept. 16, 2012)-- A goal in each half proved more than enough for William Jewell College to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Parkside as the Rangers fell 2-0 on Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer match at Greene Stadium.

The Cardinals (4-1, 3-1) wasted little time, needing only 79 seconds to get on the board as Forrest McCurren scored off a Matt McDevitt assist. Jewell tacked on an insurance goal in the 57th minute with McDevitt burying a shot from the top of the box to double the home side's lead.

The two squads combined for just four shots on goal. Jewell had three on net while Ryan Crane accounted for the Rangers' (2-3-1, 1-3 GLVC) lone strike on frame. William Jewell held a 14-8 overall edge in shots, outshooting UWP by a 7-2 margin in the second half.

Nick Huftalin recorded one save in goal for the Rangers while the Cardinals' Joe Keeven turned away one shot to pick up the shutout.

The Rangers return to action on Friday, traveling to Evansville, Ind. to take on the University of Southern Indiana at 5 p.m.
