KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 14, 2012)-- A six minute scoring binge doomed the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team on Friday night, stumbling 3-0 to 10th-ranked Rockhurst University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at Bourke Field.

The game was a scoreless affair until the 54th minute when Rockhurst's Paolo Scoppola headed ball off the crossbar and in off a feed from Joe Zang. The goal opened the floodgates as Nick McDonald tallied a pair of strikes in the 59th and 60th minutes to push the Hawks' advantage to 3-0. McDonald tallied his first score on a header from 12-yards out off a Jon Schreiber pass while scoring again 65 seconds later off assists from Scoppola and Mark Magee.

"The first half we were coming at them and had good opportunities. We had possession, we just didn't find the back of the net," said Rangers head coach Jason Zitzke. "They were a very good team and with the exception of that six-minute span, we played a pretty even game despite having two of our top forwards leave the game in the first half."

The Hawks held a slim 6-5 edge in shots at the half, ending the contest with a 19-9 edge. Ranger goalkeeper Nick Huftalin recorded nine saves in the losing effort while Rockhurst's Ryan Bass notches the shutout, making four saves on the night.

Rockhurst entered the game ranked 10th nationally and No. 1 within the Midwest Region while UW-Parkside entered Bourke Field ranked 10th regionally.

The Rangers continue their Missouri road swing on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against William Jewell College.
