SOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 19, 2012)-- A pair of goals in each half and tenacious defense propelled the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team to its seventh straight victory on Friday, dominating the University of Indianapolis, 4-0, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Wood Road Field.

The Rangers (10-3-1, 9-3 GLVC), ranked sixth in the Midwest Region, opened the scoring in the 35th minute with Jasmine Espino hitting a rocket from 25 yards out over the keeper's head off a feed from Katie Gavin. Espino doubled the home side's advantage just five minutes later, scoring in a scramble in front of the net off a corner kick with Kelsey Armour providing the assist. UW-Parkside enjoyed a two goal buffer at the halftime intermission, controlling the pace of play and recording all 10 shots of the half.

Megan Owens upped the lead to three with a goal in the 52nd minute while Ashley Meyer concluded the scoring in the 56th minute, finding the back of the net on a free kick taken by Lauki'i Cheng.

UW-Parkside's defense didn't yield a shot by UIndy (7-8, 6-7 GLVC) until 17 minutes remained in the second half, finishing the contest with an 18-1 advantage in shots and providing all eight on frame. The Rangers have allowed just one shot in its last two games and has now gone 482 minutes without conceding a goal, a streak spanning across six games.

Michelle Girard and Gloria Castaneda combined for the shutout in goal for UWP. Girard handled the opening 72 minutes of play while Castaneda tended the net the final 18 minutes of action. The Greyhound's Megan Fee recorded three saves and allowed four goals in 90 minutes of action.

The victory extends UW-Parkside's home unbeaten streak to 26 games (22-0-4), a run extending back to the 2010 season opener.

The Rangers return to the pitch on Sunday, traveling to face Saint Joseph's College at 2:30 p.m.
