SOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 14, 2012)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer squad saw its three-game win streak come to a halt on Sunday, stumbling 3-1 to regionally-ranked Quincy University in a rain-soaked Great Lakes Valley Conference affair at Wood Road Field.
The Hawks (10-1-3, 8-1-3 GLVC), ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, struck just eight minutes into the contest with Jeff Vaninger scoring a header goal off assists from Jordan Roberts and Steve McAnany. Vaninger tallied his second goal of the half 28 minutes later off another McAnany assist in the 36th minute as visiting QU enjoyed a 2-0 buffer at the halftime break.
Marc Glidden got the Rangers (6-7-1, 5-7 GLVC) on the board in the 79th minute off a feed from
Austin Robb to cut the deficit to just one. The goal was Glidden's fourth of the season.
Quincy sealed the game in the 84th minute as Roberts converted a penalty kick to conclude the scoring.
Nick Huftalin recorded six saves in 90 minutes of work for UW-Parkside while his counterpart, D.J. Lampert, logged four saves on the afternoon.
The Rangers close out their homestand on Friday, hosting the University of Indianapolis at 1:15 p.m.
