The UW-Parkside wrestling team went 1-2 at the 2012 Ranger Duals in the DeSimone Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers opened the event with a 19-13 win over #16 Findlay before dropping a 30-6 decision against 18th-ranked Ashland. UW-Parkside finished the day by falling to Indianapolis in a tight contest 21-19.

In the first match of the day the Rangers trailed 13-6 before winning the last four matches. Luke Rynish started the streak with an 8-6 win over Michaely Lybarger. Rynish and Lybarger are the top two wrestlers at 174 pounds in Division II. Matthew Gille earned a decision and Davien Willis got a major decision to put Parkside up 16-13 with one match to go.

James Malechek came up with the clincher earning a 4-2 overtime win against Andrew Tumlin. The extra time victory finished the match at 19-13.

Against Ashland the Eagles ran off six straight wins to open the contest to take control. Jake Papke and Monterail Johnson both lost tough two point matches in the early going.

Rynish and Gille each earned decisions to cut the deficit to 21-6 but the Rangers could get no closer.

In the final match of the day the Greyhounds jumped out to a 15-6 lead by claiming five of the first six matches. Rynish got four points back with a major decision win (11-1) over Dustin Parrish but a pin by Aaron Stevenson put the Rangers on the ropes.

Willis gave UW-Parkside life with a pin at 3:40 over Kevin Gaughan. Malechek earned a 4-0 decision in the final match but it wasn't enough to over come the deficit.

The Rangers will be back in action Wednesday night at the DeSimone Gymnasium when they host UW-Stevens Point. The matches are set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
