Rangers Unable to Get Offense Going Against St. Joe's

Parkside Musters Just Four Hits in Doubleheader

Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

Somers, Wis.- The UW-Parkside Baseball team was limited to just four hits on Sunday as the St. Joseph's College Pumas completed a four-game sweep at Oberbruner Field. The Rangers dropped to 5-5 in the GLVC while St. Joe's improved to 11-1.

"St. Joe's played very well this weekend," said Head Coach Joel Weaver. "Unfortunately we weren't able to step up and play at that level."

In game one the Pumas jumped out in front 2-0 in the first but Parkside came right back. Corey Stonelake ripped an RBI-single to make it 2-1 and Kirk Haviland added a sacrifice fly to tie it.

Unfortunately Parkside was unable to get anything going the rest of the way. Ben Korman led off the second with a single but the Rangers got just one baserunner the rest of the game.

St. Joe's put up a run in the third, another in the fourth, and three more in the sixth for the 7-2 victory.

In game two the Rangers threatened in multiple innings but couldn't get the key hit. Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, Parkside had an opportunity to turn things around.  With one out, John Brennan drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-1. That would be the end of the scoring however as Puma reliever Ed Schlueter retired the next eight hitters to register his fourth save of the year.

The Rangers will be back on the field Wednesday when they head to Romeoville, Ill., to take on Lewis.
