Box Score
The UW-Parkside women's basketball team improved to 8-2 on the season as they got past Indiana University Northwest, 61-48, on Thursday night at the DeSimone Gymnasium. The Rangers wrap up their non-conference slate at 7-1 and will now move into Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Jadee Rooney led the way with 15 points while Kaitlyn Bettiga added 11 points and seven assists. Jenna Endisch had a team-high nine rebounds.

The Rangers overcame a sluggish second half with a strong opening stanza to ultimately maintain control for the duration. The RedHawks were able to trim a 27-point deficit  down to 11 in the waning minutes but the outcome was never in question.

Parkside built its biggest lead of the game right before the halftime buzzer as Rooney came off a screen to knock down her third three of the half. She combined with Bettiga to score 25 of the team's 44 first half points. Rooney had 14 in the first 20 minutes to go with four assists and two steals. Bettiga had 11 on 4-for-4 from the floor along with five assists and four steals.

The Rangers got off to a 19-4 lead in the game's first six minutes and never let the lead drop below double digits. Rooney and Bettiga knocked down back-to-back three's to make it 14-4. Bettiga followed that with a three-point play and Amy Selk's jumper completed the early spurt.

Parkside shot just 22.6% in the second half as they were limited to just 17 points. They shot 40.0% in the first half including 54.5% from the three-point line.

The Rangers will now turn their attention to conference play which resumes next Thursday. Parkside will head to St. Louis to take on the Tritons in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. That game can be heard locally on 1400 AM-WRJN and on the web at www.gatewaysportsweb.org
