Rangers make late push at Drury

The UW-Parkside women's basketball fell to 7-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play and 13-4 overall after a 74-68 road loss to Drury in Springfield, Missouri, Thursday night.
UW-Parkside had an early 13-12 lead when Drury went on an 8-0 run to take a 20-13 lead. As the half progressed, the Panthers were able to extend that lead to 32-20 with just over a minute to play in the first half. The Rangers were able to score five quick points and went into halftime trailing, 32-25.
Drury came out strong in the second half with a 10-2 run to take a commanding 42-27 advantage. The Rangers were able to make a push late in the game and cut the lead to 69-64 with just over a minute to play. Drury made their free throws down the stretch to shut down any chance of a full comeback.
The Ranger come back saw the squad down by 18 points with 4:20 to go in the game. The lead was whittled down to as many as five, just 3 minutes later.
The Rangers were led by Brittany Hogen, who scored 17 points, 15 in the second half. Jadee Rooney and Kaitlyn Bettiga added 16 and 14 points respectively.
Next, the Rangers will head back home for a match-up with Missouri S&T on Thursday January 20, at 5:30 p.m.
