It was déjà va at Wood Road Field Sunday afternoon. The visiting Bellarmine University men's soccer team took a 4-0 decision from UW-Parkside in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup. Eleven months earlier, those same Knights came to Somers and logged a 4-0 victory in the first round of the GLVC post-season tournament, ending the 2009 season for UWP.

"In the first half, we didn't play great, but we defended," said UW-Parkside head coach Rick Kilps. "In the second half, we shot ourselves in the foot multiple times."

Neither team scored in the first half, before the Knights opened the floodgates. The initial goal was tallied 15 minutes and 18 seconds into the stanza. Jack Binns scored what turned out to be the game-winner.

Bradley Barraclough scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season and Bellarmine's goal out-put culminated on a tally by Ross Hopkins.

"We had only two guys who played well, Niklas Boedts and Tim Thao, said Kilps. "We have a lot of high-energy guys, but when you make technical mistakes, all that effort is wasted."

Bellarmine put eight shots on goal against Ranger netminder Ryan Onwukwe. Parkside had three on net against Matthew Soyka, who posted the shutout between the posts.

The Knights jumped to 5-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in GLVC action. The Rangers are now 4-3-2 overall and 2-3-2 in league play.

"We couldn't find a stiker who could do anything for us," admitted Kilps. "You get what you have coming to you and we paid for it today."

Next up for the Rangers is a pair of road games. The team will travel to Saint Joseph's College for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday, Oct. 1, before heading further south down I-65 for a match at the University of Indianapolis Sunday, Oct. 3, at noon.
