The UW-Parkside women's soccer team is off to a 2-0 start in the Great Lakes Valley Conference after a decisive 5-1 triumph over visiting Missouri-St. Louis at Wood Road Field Friday afternoon. The win ups the Ranger overall record to 2-1.
The Tritons are now 0-1-1 both overall and in league play.
Crystal Chalery starred in the game for UW-Parkside, scoring the hat trick. She tallied the second, third and fifth goals of the contest.
The Rangers got on the scoreboard early, twice, scoring a pair in the second minute. Shannon Becker tallied the first goal, unassisted, followed by the first of three for Chalery with help from Megan Owens.
Parkside scored in the 9th minute on Chalery's second goal with an assist to Kelsey Armour and the Rangers were up 3-zip before the fans got settled.
Kristen Benson scored at 21:51, set up by Becker to give Parkside a 4-0 advantage, a lead it would hold at halftime.
Triton Kaylee Neutzling broke the goose egg for UMSL, scoring 9 minutes into the second half with help from teammate Lindsay Krull.
Chalery wrapped up the scoring at 86:43 on an assist from Natalie Brown.
The Rangers will host Maryville University Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
