The UW-Parkside baseball team wrapped up its 2010 season at Oberbruner Field Sunday afternoon. Visiting Bellarmine won ends games of a doubleheader, 1-0 and 15-4.
The Rangers won as many games this season as the last two combined. They finished with a record of 13-28 overall and 7-24 in league play, making great strides under new head coach Joel Weaver, who once played for the Rangers.
Bellarmine won Game One by stranding eight Rangers on base. The Knights scored their run on a solo shot by Braxton Graven in the fifth.
Alex Zarek was the hard-luck losing pitcher. He tossed a gem, giving up just three hits.
Game Two was all Knights.
It was the last games for seniors Mike Pena and
Dave Watson. Pena started 47 games this season, hitting .280. He had 110 assists at shortstop with 83 putouts. Watson was second on the squad in batting average at .352. His slugging percentage was .516 with an on-base percentage of .441. He led the team in triples with three and jacked four home runs. He started all 52 games.
