Nilles champions GLVC pole vault

Missy Nilles earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track Title in the Pole Vault. Her winning vault was 3.35m (10' 11.75").  Nilles helped the UWP women's team to a seventh place finish.
 
The UWP Distance Medley Relay Team of Hope Christie, Danielle Dietz, Jessica Watychowicz, and Whitney Olson earned the next best UWP finish with a second place with a time of 12:31.81.  The same group came back to place fifth in the 4 x 400m Relay in a time of 4:15.87.
 
Watychowicz placed fourth in the 800m Run with a career best time of 2:20.39.  Christie also earned a fourth place in the Mile Run with an career best time of 5:09.79.

Heidi Ertl placed fourth in the 3000m Run with a time of 10:37.09. She was also sixth in the 5000m Run with a time of 17:56.25.
 
Sixth place finishes were turned in by Olson in the 800m Run with a time of 2:22.13 and Charlotte Smith had a pair of sixths. She earned her spots in the High Jump with a leap of 1.49m (5'), Smith was also a member of the 4 x 200m Relay team along with Rachel Bullis, Nilles, Olson.  The team ran a time of 1:55.91.
 
UWP scored a total of 52 points.  The meet was won by Lewis University, which totalled 195.5 points with Indianapolis coming in second with 159 points.
 
UWP Coach Mike De Witt commented on the GLVC Championships:  "It was great to be on our home track for this years meet.  Our UWP Team did an excellent job on day two of the meet.  The team raced strong after a rough first day on Friday.  The adjustments to racing with your focus on energy management during the first half led to some excellent racing with their heart.  We had several strong finishes and there was an excellent positive energy that grew during the day.  There were a lot of pluses to competing at home and some extra work for our squad.  It was a good meet and a lot of fun."
