The UW-Parkside baseball team returned to the Metrodome in Minneapolis for the second time this month. This time, the team took on Minnesota State Mankato in a Saturday night twinbill and a doubleheader with Jamestown Sunday which was not scheduled to begin until 9:45 p.m., leaving the team playing into the wee hours Monday morning.
In the opener against Minnesota State, the Rangers lost, 6-0. Dave Watson, who was the second hitter in the game for Parkside, singled up the middle in the first inning...that turned out to be the team's only hit.
The Mavericks scored single runs in each of the first three innings and added two more in the fourth. The squad tacked on a run in the sixth.
Alex Zarek was the losing pitcher. He gave up six runs, three earned, in six innings. He struck out five and walked three. Nick Mishevich finished up by hurling a scoreless rack.
Parkside committed four errors in the contest.
The Mavericks took the nightcap, 10-4.
#Jon Kleinmeyer was the losing pitcher, tossing the first two innings and giving up four earned runs. Watson and Kirk Haviland had two hits each for the Rangers in a seven-hit attack.
Minnesota State led, 5-0, after two innings. The Rangers got back in the game with a four-spot in the top of the third. Watson came up with an RBI double and Dave Lojeski singled in a run. The other two runs were unearned.
