UW-Parkside's latest men's soccer recruit is Jorge Artavia, who will join the Rangers in the fall of 2010. Artavia is a 6-3, 180-pound, holding midfield/defender from White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Artavia is a four-year varsity player and team captain of White Bear Lake High School, where he was an all-conference selection.
“Jorge brings a nice size frame into the middle of the defensive third of the field,” said UW-Parkside head coach Rick Kilps. “He has a wealth of experience playing in a top level club team at the regional level.”
Artavia is a member of the St. Croix Red Devils, who won the Minnesota state title in 2008 and were a runner-up in 2009. His helped his club to the regional championship and a national ranking of No. 7.
“Jorge is well tooled in the basics of the game,” cited Kilps. “He has a good field of vision. We expect him to grow in leaps and bounds in our program.”
