Grand Valley State University scored on its first six possessions and never looked back in a non-conference women's basketball game in Allendale, Michigan, Saturday afternoon. The homestanding Lakers knocked off UW-Parkside, 64-50.
The game featured a pair of 3-0 teams who are nationally ranked. Grand Valley State came into the contest ranked No. 16 in the country while UW-Parkside is No. 20 in the land.
The Lakers jumped to a 13-3 lead in the early going. The Rangers could forge no closer than five points the rest of the way.
Grand Valley State held a 30-22 lead at halftime. The Lakers had their way inside, while cool shooting plagued the Rangers in a 31 percent effort from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
Parkside had the best of the boards in the contest, out-rebounding their foes, 39-33.
Briauna Taylor had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Grand Valley State.
Brittany Hogen logged a double-double for the Rangers with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
