Box Score

The Ranger women's basketball team did not take visiting Southern Indiana lightly, even with 20-0 Indianapolis next up on the schedule. UW-Parkside posted a 74-64 victory over the Screaming Eagles in the DeSimone Gymnasium Thursday night.

Southern Indiana, ranked sixth in the Midwest Region, fell to 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rangers equalled the win total of all of last year and are a stellar 18-3 overall and 10-2 in league play.

Indianapolis is ranked No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the Midwest region. The team has won 18 of their 20 games by double digits.

The showdown was set up with a powerful Ranger run midway through the game against USI. Trailing 28-19 after the first 8 minutes of play, the Parkside went on a 31-6 run to grab a 44-34 lead 3 minutes into the second half.

Southern Indiana missed 15 of its first 17 shots in the second half, thanks to a stingy Ranger defense.

Brittany Hogen logged her fourth consecutive double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Amanda Gibson paced Parkside with 27 points. The senior was 10-10 at free throw line.

The Rangers were 26-30 at the stripe, compared to 9-13 for the Eagles.

Jadee Rooney added 12 points.
