There's still a zero in the middle column of the UW-Parkside men's soccer won-loss-tie record. The team added another to the left-hand column with a convincing 4-0 triumph at Upper Iowa Sunday evening.
The Rangers wasted little time in setting the tone, scoring their initial goal at 4:04 followed up by another just 58 seconds later.
Jon Bebeau scored what turned out to be the game-winner, unassisted from 22 yards out.
Johnson Thao followed up with a goal with an assist from
Jose Alfaro.
The score of the non-conference match in Fayette, Iowa, remained 2-0 at halftime.
Just like the first half, the Rangers scored quickly in the second period. Only 3:18 into the second half, Bebeau again found the back of the net, this time from 24 yards out. Again, it was unassisted.
Austin Robb tallied the final goal at 65:08 with help from
Tim Thao.
Greg Fischer was the starting goalkeeper for the Rangers. He was between the pipes for 73 minutes before being relieved by
Palani Apuakehau. Fischer made four saves and Apuakehau, two.
UW-Parkside fired 14 shots on goal, compared to six for the Peacocks.
The Rangers will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday, Sept. 11, at GLVC newcomer, Maryville. The squad will move on to take on host Missouri-St. Louis Sunday, Sept. 13.
The next home match is Friday, Sept. 18, versus Kentucky Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m.
