Jose Alfaro served up both assists

Box Score

The season is slightly over half way over and yet the UW-Parkside men's soccer team has already equalled its win total from all of last season. The team is now 8-1-1 overall after a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Bellarmine Friday night.

The Rangers are now 4-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, which currently places them third in the 15-team circuit. The Knight dropped into a tie for sixth place and are now 3-2 in the league and 5-2-1 overall.

Bellarmine got on the board first on a deflection off of a free kick. The goal stood up at halftime, but the Rangers charged back in the second set of 45 minutes.

Matt Gloshen pumped in a goal at 68:56 with an assist from Jose Alfaro. The pair teamed up again for the game-winner at 76:40. This time Gloshen scored on a header off of a corner kick.

For Gloshen, it was his second and third goals of the season. Alfaro now pace the squad in assists with four.

Each team was credited with five shots on goal in the contest.

The Rangers, ranked No. 24 in the nation, now face their stiffest challenge of 2009. The squad takes on No. 1 ranked an undefeated Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights Sunday afternoon. The Norse are 8-0 overall and 5-0 in league play.
