Rangers win via shutout on the road

The UW-Parkside men's soccer team welcomed Maryville to the Great Lakes Valley Conference by handing the Saints a 1-0 loss on their home field in St. Louis on a warm Friday afternoon. The win keeps the Rangers undefeated, now with a 5-0-1 record. Parkside is now 1-0-1 in league play.

Maryville fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the GLVC.

The winners scored what turned out to be the only goal it needed 22:01 into the game. Jon Bebeau notched his third goal of the season with an assist from Niklas Boedts. Bebeau leads the Rangers in scoring with nine total points.

Greg Fischer was between the pipes for the triumphant Rangers, posting the shutout.

Offensively, the Rangers fired 18 shots, nine of which were on goal.

UW-Parkside looks to extend its hot start to the 2009 season at Missouri-St. Louis Sunday afternoon.

The Rangers are off to their best start of a season since 2006, when it won its first six games.

The team returns home to take on Southern Indiana Friday, Sept. 18, at 3:30 p.m.
