Three new recruits join softball squad

Head coach Laura 'Flip' Fillipp

In addition to Ashley Nowdomski and Ashley Sullivan, who signed in the early signing period, head coach softball Laura “Flip” Fillipp has signed three additional players for the upcoming 2009-2010 school year.

Diana Gordon, a shortstop, played her high school career at Elmwood Park High School in Elmwood Park, Ill. She plays her summer seasons with the Elmwood Park Lady Tigers. Gordon is a solid infielder, who can hit the ball to all fields.

Lani Grogan is a firstbaseman, from Evergreen Park, Ill., who played high school softball at Marist High School, in Chicago, Ill. During the summer, Grogan plays on the Homer Hawks Gold team from Homer Glen, Ill. She has a great glove and is very flexible at firstbase.

Jill Vondrak is a pitcher from Westchester, Ill. She played her high school career at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, Ill., and plays for the Oak Park Windmills travel team. Vondrak is a 6-foot pitcher, who is athletic and can spin the ball well. In addition to pitching, she can also play firstbase.

“I am extremely pleased with the addition of these three young ladies to the Ranger Softball Program," stated Fillipp. "They have all had good success with their high school programs, and play on competitive summer teams.   The one thing I really like is that they all continue to work very hard."
