The eighth place performance by the UW-Parkside men's golf team at regionals was good enough to qualify for the NCAA Super Regionals. The Rangers finished with a two-round score of 622, which was five strokes better than Southern Indiana, a team they were on the bubble with.
"We came in wanting to finish higher than Southern Indiana and we did that," said UW-Parkside coach
Mark Olsen.
A total of 18 teams will compete at the Super Regional at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, May 4-6. The top five teams from the Super Regional advance to the national finals in the state of Washington.
Ferris State was the champion at the regional, held in Purgatory Club Club in Nobelsville, Indiana. The Bulldogs shot a 598. Indianapolis was second at 604 followed by Grand Valley, 605. UW-Parkside shot a 307 on Day 1 and a 310 on Day 2.
"The weather was nasty," noted Olsen. "Still, we were able to come up with the second best score in the second round."

Bob Tierney, 84-78=162.
