Only two games remain on the league schedule for the Rangers and both will be played at Wood Road Field. The team will host Rockhurst Friday, Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m. Then, the league slate will close when the Rangers host first-place Drury, Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2:30 p.m.
Both Rangers goals at Quincy were scored in the second half. The first came off the foot of Jose Alfaro, who netted his second of the season. It was a 25-yard boot off of a throw-in with an assist to Jon Bebeau.
The insurance goal was logged at 63:01. Tim Thao scored his first of the season, unassisted, from 16 yards out.
Jamie Lieberman registered the shutout in goal. He turned away four Hawk shots on goal. The Rangers fired seven shots on goal and had 11 total attempts compared to six for Quincy.
"We played a solid 90 minutes, whistle to whistle," said UW-Parkside head coach Rick Kilps. "There was excellent game management in closing out the match. We had brilliant goalkeeping by Lieberman and powerful goals by Alfaro and Thao. It was a solid performance by the entire team."
This was the second consecutive shutout for the Rangers, who won at Illinois-Springfield, 3-0, just 2 days prior.
"This caps a very encouraging weekend," added Kilps. "We are playing with confidence and with a purpose at the right time."
UW-Parkside is now 12-3-2 overall and 7-3-2 in league action.
