The Ranger women's soccer team scored a win on the road Friday evening when it handled Illinois-Springfield, 3-0.
The Prairie Stars are in their first year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The team has found the upgrade difficult and has yet to score a goal in league play. They dropped to 0-12-0 in conference play and 2-12-0 overall.
UW-Parkside improved to 8-3-2 overall and 7-3-1 in conference. With the shutout, in which Cassie Glodowski made two saves in net, the goals against average for the Rangers dropped to 0.67.
The Rangers fired a dozen shots on goal, three of which found the back of the net.
Crystal Chalery scored her third goal of the season 5:36 into the contest. The score held at 1-0, Rangers, at halftime.
Kristen Benson got things going in the second half. She scored at 58:28. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Becky Zirlin added the third goal, her fifth of the year, at 63:07.
The Rangers will head west from Springfield to Quincy, where they will take on the Hawks at noon on Sunday.
