Hansen's third-place finish heads Ranger golf effort at Wayne State Invitational

UW-Parkside's Andy Hansen shot a three round score of 75-74-70=219 at Gross Ile Golf and Country Club in Grosse Ile, Michigan, Oct. 11-12. His score was third individually out of 75 golfers. The private course is in the Detroit area and is a 6828-yard, par 71.

Ferris State posted the low team score out of 10 squads with a three round total of 880. Host Wayne State finished in second with an 844. UW-Parkside finished fifth, showing steady improvement each round, with a total of 309-300-292=901. The field was made up of teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), with the exception of Parkside.

"It was a worthwhile trip for us because we were able to make some progress versus a number of teams in our region," explained UW-Parkside coach Mark Olsen.

The Rangers headed the field in par 5 scoring, with an eight under par total for the par-5 holes.

Other Ranger places and scores were Mike Keller, 26th, 79-76-73=228; Keith Buntrock, 31st, 76-78-75=229; Andrew Troyanek, 36th, 79-76-76=231; and Bob Tierney, 42nd, 84-74-74=232.

This match concludes the fall portion of the Ranger schedule. The squad will resume play in March in Scottsdale, Arizona.
