Women keep on rollin'

The school record winning streak in women's basketball now stands at eight. This after the Rangers won their fourth consecutive game on the road on a trip which saw them spend nine consecutive days away from home.

UW-Parkside took a 70-56 victory in Kansas City Sunday afternoon over homestanding Rockhurst.

The win upped the Ranger record to 8-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Rockhurst, which has its longest winning streak (five) snapped since joining NCAA Division II in the mid-90's, slipped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in GLVC play.

Rockhurst had its biggest lead of four with 11:26 to go in the first half. The Rangers gradually turned the game in their favor, leading by a 36-32 count at halftime.

The Rangers pulled away in the second half, with 15 being its largest margin with 3 minutes to go in the game.

Amanda Gibson once again led the Rangers in scoring, this time with 19 points. Jadee Rooney notched 15 points on the strength of five three-pointers. Jen Moran chipped in 10 points to the winning cause.

Rockhurst was limited to 35 percent shooting for the game. The Rangers made good on 44 percent of their shots.

Parkside owned the boards, out-rebounding the Hawks, 44-29. A total of 15 of those 44 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor.

At long last, the Rangers will play a home game, Thursday, Jan. 8. Nationally ranked Drury will look to snap the streak with tipoff in the DeSimone Gymnasium scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
