Box Score

The schools longest winning streak in women's basketball has now reached double digits. The Rangers logged a 63-54 win over visiting Missouri S&T in the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

It maked the first ever win over Missouri S&T. The Miners won the first three contests.

The win by the Rangers ups their perfect Great Lakes Valley Conference record to 6-0. The team is 10-4 after losing their first four games.

Missouri S&T slipped to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in league play.

The Miners charged out to an early 17-6 lead in the first 9 minutes of play. The Rangers quickly went on a 12-2 run to pull within one. Jadee Rooney tied the game at 21 with a three-point shot, one of six she knocked down from behind the arc.

The Rangers led at halftime, 36-30.

Missouri S&T lead briefly in the second half at 41-39 midway through the session, but a 13-2 Ranger run allowed the home team to put some distance between themselves and their adversaries. After not taking a single free throw attempt in the first half, UW-Parkside salted the game away at the stripe in the final minutes.

Rooney led the Rangers in scoring with 20 points. Amanda Gibson, the league's leading scorer who averaged just under 19 points per game, came up with 16 in the winning effort. The junior guard dished out nine assists and had three steals.

Brittany Beyer registered a double-double with 12 rebounds and 11 points.

The Ranger defense was solid, limiting the Miners to 36 percent shooting. UWP made good on 52 percent of their shots.

UW-Parkside will be on the road next week, with games at Quincy Thursday and Lewis Saturday.
