The Saint Joseph's College women's basketball team stayed with the Rangers for 14 minutes, before UW-Parkside pulled away en route to a convincing 70-43 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory. The game was contested at UW-Parkside's DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The game was knotted at 24-24 when the Rangers went on an 11-0 run in a span of just over 3 minutes. Kayla Ming, who scored a game-high 21 points, knocked down three three-point shots during the stretch. Jen Moran added a layup to account for the 11 points.
The score stood at 39-28 at halftime. The Rangers out-scored the Pumas, 31-15 in the second half.
The win lofts the Rangers' record to 8-4 overall. The squad is 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Saint Joseph's fell to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Katie Weiglein notched the first double-double of her career. Her 16 points and 10 rebounds were both career highs.
Point guard Amanda Gibson rounded out the Rangers' double figure scorers with 10 points.
UW-Parkside shot 51 percent for the game including a 9-20 effort from behind the three-point arc.
Saint Joseph's, which shot 38 percent for the game, was led in scoring by Kelsey Bess, who notched 16 points.
The Rangers moved the ball well, racking up 21 assists out of the 28 made field goals.
