The visiting Rockhurst men's soccer team capitalized on a UW-Parkside red card in winning at Wood Road Field, 1-0, Friday afternoon. The Hawks tallied at 29:50 when Haggai Leboo found the back of the net. The red card came at 25:50.
"It's hard enough to play a good team like Rockhurst even strength, but when you go down a man it makes it that much tougher," reasoned UW-Parkside associate head coach Jason Zitzke.
The Rangers had three shots on goal, all in the first half. Rockhurst put eight shots on Ranger netminder Victor Perez (Kenosha, Wis.).
"Rockhurst is one of the top teams in the league," cited Zitzke. "We told the players before the game that if you make a mistake it will cost you, and on their goal, it did."
The Rangers dropped a forward back after the red card.
"We still continued to attack as normal," said Zitzke.
UW-Parkside will play its final home game of the 2007 season Sunday, Oct. 14, at 2:30 p.m. Drury will be the visitor.
