Esposito joined the Rangers athletic department in the fall of 2012, becoming the program's 10th head coach. He will enter his nineth season leading the Rangers baseball program in the upcoming 2022 season.
In the 2021 season, Esposito saw infielder/pitcher Austin Emanueal earn several awards including Second Team All-Region, First Team All-GLIAC, and the GLIAC Commissioner's Award. He also saw designated hitter Dominic Esposito earn Second Team All-GLIAC honors, as well as All-GLIAC Honorable Mention nods to Carlos Arteaga and Garrett LaBreche.
His eighth season was cut short after the COVID-19 pandemic brought all sports to a halt on March 13, 2020. The 2020 Rangers started the season 4-5 before the season was cancelled.
The 2019 season was the Rangers first in GLIAC, and the team saw their win total improve by four wins coming off the 2018 campaign. Esposito saw outfielder Niko Diaz named second team All-GLIAC after batting .294 to go with a .736 OPS. The teams improved season was highlighted by a three-game win streak that included wins over #13 Southern Indiana and #3 Illinois Springfield.
In an odd 2018 season where Parkside was ineligible for postseason play, Esposito saw many young Rangers get playing time throughout the season. Esposito saw pitcher Nicholas Rana named Second Team All-GLVC after going 4-3 with a 3.96 ERA during the season.
In 2017, Esposito led the Rangers to the best conference winning percentage since the 2006 season, as the team went 12-14 in GLVC play. At the end of the season, three Rangers were named All-GLVC, with Kyohei Makita and Max Widmar earning First Team and Nate Stolte Second Team.
The 2016 Rangers collected a pair of wins against nationally-ranked opponents during the season, claiming a 5-3 victory over Barry University on Feb. 13 while securing a 3-0 win over the University of Indianapolis on April 17. UW-Parkside finished the season with a winning record at home while Kyohei Makita and Tyler Jandron both tallied First Team All-GLVC accolades.
Esposito's 2015 squad boasted an All-Region selection in Jake Kolasinski while four players spent time playing in the prestigious Northwoods League over the summer, including Josh Serio, who landing a spot in the league's all-star game. The team excelled in the classroom as well with six student-athletes earning Academic All-GLVC distinction.
The Rangers saw their win tally improve by 11 games in 2014. UW-Parkside was one of just nine teams to defeat eventual national champion University of Southern Indiana during the season while pitcher Mario Samuel was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year.
Esposito came to UW-Parkside from Pittsburg State University (Kan.) where he served as an assistant coach during the 2012 season. Prior to Pitt State, he was the head coach at Southwestern Oregon Community College for four seasons. Esposito served as an assistant coach at Johnson County Community College from 2004-2007, filling the role of recruiting coordinator/hitting and infield instructor for the Cavaliers and was an assistant coach for Pitt State from 2001-2003.
Esposito played three seasons for Pitt State, from 1995-97. He became the first NCAA Division II All-American in program history in 1997, when he captured the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Triple Crown by leading the conference in batting average (.460), home runs (13) and RBIs (71). Esposito was named both the MIAA and Central Region Player of the Year during his senior campaign. He was inducted into the Pitt State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
Esposito graduated from Pitt State in 1998 where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature while earning his master of science degree in physical education in 2002.
He and his wife Tami have two children, Will and Malia.
