Braving the Cold

Brrraving the cold…

Registration Form

•Meet, run & talk & learn from 4 U.S. notable high school
and collegiate track stars who now are professionals:
Chris Solinsky, Erik Sowinski,
Stephen Pifer & Matt Tegenkamp

8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 10, 24 & 31, UW-Parkside, Kenosha, Wis.
It may be frigid and snowy outside but there will be some hot running at UW-Parkside this winter when you’ll have the opportunity to go on a training run and talk with one or more of the nation’s best track athletes on four Saturdays in January.  All sessions will take place on UW-Parkside’s 200-meter indoor track though runners should also be prepared to “brave the cold” a bit for some outdoor running.

Two of Wisconsin’s own—high school, University of Wisconsin and professional distance legend and former American 10K record-holder Chris Solinsky of Stevens Point and former University of Iowa star and U.S. 600-meter record-holder Erik Sowinski of Waukesha—along with two-time Olympian and former American 2-mile run record-holder Matt Tegenkamp (also a UW grad) and versatile (mile to marathon) distance star Stephen Pifer (University of Colorado) will appear at UW-Parkside for a training, running, advice and Q&A session, each on a different Saturday.

The goal of each “mini-camp” is to provide tips, advice and information to young runners in a hands-on, personalized format that they can then implement to become better runners.

Sign up for all four sessions at an “early bird” rate of only $200. Attend three sessions for $180, two sessions for $150 and one for $85. Rates go up after Dec. 5. We can only accommodate limited numbers per session to ensure personal attention from the featured athlete, so please rank your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices as to preferred dates. Those attending more sessions have priority. We can assure you that that each session is similar to but not identical to any other, with each athlete obviously relating different experiences and workouts and questions varying widely in the Q&A segment and with other give-and-take.
