(June 16, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball program continues to finalize its incoming recruiting class for the 2014-2015 academic year, adding Tyler Jandron to the list of student-athletes signing a National Letter of Intent with the Rangers.
Jandron joins incoming freshmen
Matt Skarzynski, Nick Rana and junior college transfer John Dokolas as members of the UW-Parkside baseball team's 2014-2015 recruiting class. Jandron will additionally play basketball for the back-to-back Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division Champion Rangers as a walk-on for Head Coach
Luke Reigel.
"Ty is very athletic and will be competing in both baseball and basketball this year at Parkside. On the field, Ty is a left handed pitcher with huge upside. He has three quality pitches he commands extremely well and will have a chance to impact our program immediately on the baseball field," said Head Coach
Daniel Esposito.
The 6 foot, 2 inch, southpaw hails Michigan's Upper Peninsula where he was a standout at Negaunee High School. A four-year letterwinner on the diamond for the Miners, Jandron was a three-year starter at shortstop when not on the mound. A versatile athlete that has earned nine varsity letters, the southpaw tossed a no-hitter against Hudson at age 15 at the American Legion State Finals, helping his squad to a runner-up finish. Jandron was also a standout on the hardwood, securing a spot on the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association 'Dream Team' twice while leading the Miners to four regional championships and back-to-back appearances in the MHSAA Class C State Semifinals.
The Rangers finished the season with a 15-29 overall record and a 13-23 mark in GLVC play. UW-Parkside tallied a win over the eventual national champion University of Southern Indiana during the season while pitcher
Mario Samuel was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year.
