LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Dec. 18, 2012)-- It was a tale of two halves in Tuesday afternoon's showdown between nationally ranked powers as the No. 24 University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad stumbled 68-54 to No. 15 Grand Canyon University in the opening day of the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic inside South Point Arena. The Rangers shot lights out in the opening half, enjoying a six-point lead at the break before going cold from the field the final 20 minutes of play.

The Rangers (4-2) enjoyed a six-point buffer at the break, 38-32 with Jenna Endisch draining four threes in the opening 20 minutes of action. The Antelopes (10-2) accounted for the game's opening bucket before UW-Parkside scored the next seven straight. Grand Canyon countered with an 11-2 run of its own, holding a 13-9 lead with 13:05 remaining in the first half. The 'Lopes held a 15-12 edge with 11:19 to go in the opening half before the Rangers rallied with 13 of the next 14 points, giving UWP the nine-point cushion with 7:42 left in the half. Seven of the Rangers' 13 points during the run came off the fingers of Endisch, who concluded the game with a career-high 25 points.

A Sierra West three-pointer with just over five minutes remaining in the first stanza gave UW-Parkside its largest lead of the day at 10 points before heading into the locker room with a six-point lead, shooting 50 percent from the floor (13-for-26) while holding GCU to shooting just 36.1 percent (13-for-36).

UWP's fortunes reversed in the second half, shooting just 16.1 percent (five-for-31) while the Antelopes drained 45.8 percent (24-for-60) of their opportunities.

A Danielle Slivka layup gave the Rangers a 44-37 edge with 17:16 remaining before Grand Canyon tallied nine straight points, grabbing the lead and never looking back.

Endisch paced all scorers with a career-best 25 points, draining six threes on the afternoon. Slivka added nine point and seven rebounds while Jaleesa Trussell grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and West dished out five assists.

Maylinn Smith led the 'Lopes with 18 points while Judy Jones registered a double-double, pouring on 15 points while pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds. Chigozie Ekweozor was the third GCU player in double figures, chipping in 10 points.

The Rangers return to the court tomorrow at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time), squaring off against No. 6 Washburn College to close out the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.
